Avengers #10

Immortus proposes an alliance with the Masters of Evil to destroy the Avengers. To lure them in, he offers superpowers to civilians through a newspaper ad. Rick Jones falls into the trap, prompting Captain America to investigate. Immortus manipulates the Avengers by pitting them against historical figures resembling their traits. Despite initial challenges, the Avengers prevail. However, Immortus sends Captain America back in time to save Rick, leaving the other Avengers vulnerable to the Masters of Evil's attacks. In the ensuing battle, the Avengers struggle until Captain America returns to aid them, leading to the defeat of the Masters of Evil and their retreat into the past.
