Captain Marvel officially joins the Avengers, replacing Iron Man, while Eros—now calling himself Starfox—is made a provisional member after Hawkeye is sidelined with a broken leg. The Wasp sends Starfox, Thor, and Captain Marvel to assist the Navy in tracking the Plantman’s submarine. Attacked by giant kelp, they dive underwater and breach the sub. In a panic, Plantman activates an emergency escape device from his ally, the Wizard, and is launched into orbit in a metal sphere. The Avengers rush to save him before his oxygen runs out. Meanwhile, Captain America and the Wasp find Tony Stark, drunk and defeated by alcoholism.
