Aboard the Kree ship, Mar-Vell undergoes an intense holographic training session, secretly intensified by Yon-Rogg in hopes of killing him. Mar-Vell survives and is sent back to Earth, where Carol Danvers nearly exposes his dual identity after spotting the Kree ship and Mar-Vell’s sudden appearance as "Lawson." Later, in his Lawson guise, Mar-Vell meets Dr. Lundquist, who unveils a Solar Amplification Light-Cannon. Realizing it could spawn a dangerous energy creature, Mar-Vell tries to destroy it, but Yon-Rogg intervenes. The resulting Solam creature grows stronger by absorbing sunlight. Mar-Vell ultimately discovers it can be destroyed by overloading it with solar energy.
