To keep up the ruse that he’s Daredevil and win Karen Page’s affection, Foggy Nelson visits a costume shop to have a Daredevil suit made. The shop’s bitter owner, who despises costumed heroes, agrees—then decides to prove anyone can be a hero or villain. While Matt Murdock grows concerned about Foggy’s charade, the costume maker creates a villain persona for himself: the Gladiator. Foggy, unaware of the danger, agrees to stage a fake fight. But the Gladiator fights for real, and Karen flees for help. The true Daredevil intervenes, defeats Gladiator, and Foggy is left to deal with the fallout and Karen’s collapse.
