Yellow Claw's agent, Karl von Horstbaden, orchestrates a plan to enlist Samuel Burley's help by coercing Sandman to capture Burley's brother, Mike. T'Kora is already captured, and Nova finds himself neutralized in a specialized holding cell. Meanwhile, Richard's father, Charles, facing financial woes, receives a card from a bank security guard directing him to the Inner Circle for assistance, despite its dubious operations. As Sandman attacks Harry S. Truman High School to seize Mike, Nova breaks free from captivity and confronts Sandman, ultimately defeating him in a fierce battle. Later, Mike receives a threatening call from von Horstbaden, compelling him to comply with their demands to ensure his brother's safety.
