Spider-Man #1

Spider-Man thwarts a mugging and reflects on crime while Peter Parker jokes with Mary Jane. Elsewhere, the Lizard, under a mysterious woman's influence, attacks thieves. The Lizard appears unstoppable, driven by the woman's eerie drums. Unaware, Spider-Man swings through the city, pondering his dual life and financial struggles as darkness descends, and tragedy unfolds below.

- While technically not a traditional key issue, this issue does mark the beginning of a short-lived run where Todd McFarlane did double duty as both writer and artist.
