What If #30 (Newsstand Edition)

Following the events in Amazing Spider-Man issues 148 through 150, one of the Peter Parkers manages to render the other unconscious during their confrontation. Taking the unconscious Spider-Man to Professor Warren's lab, the conscious Spider-Man places him in suspended animation. As Peter tries to rebuild his life, he discovers unsettling changes: he no longer lives with Aunt May and is dating Mary-Jane Watson. Digging deeper, Peter finds letters from Gwen Stacy and realizes he has lost three years of memory due to Warren's cloning process. Discovering he is the clone, Peter struggles to adapt to his new life but is ambushed by the Kingpin's forces. Wrestling with his conscience, the clone frees the original Spider-Man and together they defeat the Kingpin. In the end, the clone decides to lead his own life but agrees to share the Spider-Man identity with the original, albeit with some reluctance.
