Gotham's aging underworld figure, Li'l Studs, is targeted for assassination by three hitmen hired by rival Quirk. Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson pose as waiters to prevent the hit, but Studs dies of a heart attack before any assassin strikes. Quirk, unaware of this, refuses payment to the hitmen, who then target Batman and Robin. Big Jolt sets up an electrified trap at Quirk's house, but Batman and Robin avoid it, apprehend the hitmen, and prevent Quirk from triggering his own deadly mat, ensuring he faces trial for attempted murder.
