Following their defeat of Zarrko the Tomorrow Man, Kristoff Vernard builds a device to track him through time. During its calibration, it overloads and explodes—Sue containing the blast in an invisible force bubble. Kristoff locates Zarrko’s destination but warns scanning further destroys the device. Despite Lyja’s plea to gather intel first, Sue insists the team departs within the hour, despite Namor’s warning that it’s a trap. Unbeknownst to them, Zarrko and his master Hyperstorm observe from the future. Zarrko wonders how many civilizations Hyperstorm will destroy next—even as he keeps Doctor Doom prisoner and powerless.
They arrive at what appears to be a European village—but robotic impostors attack. The team is knocked out and wakes in stasis tubes. Fortunately, Sue’s “vest” is actually Lyja in disguise, freeing them. They find Doom in captivity, and Kristoff activates a message promising aid. But Hyperstorm shows himself, overwhelming the four heroes before teleporting them away in flames—vowing they will meet Reed Richards... later. Unknown to him, Kristoff’s actions have freed Doom’s mind, the greatest threat yet.
