In the Savage Land, Iron Man, Captain America, and Spider-Man battle a T-Rex and reunite with Luke Cage and Spider-Woman, who defeats Wolverine. The X-Men inform the Avengers about a plot involving Lykos. They are captured by the Mutates but escape thanks to Tony's armor. They fight the Mutates, and Wolverine wounds Lykos, who transforms into Sauron. S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, led by Yelena Belova, try to kill the Avengers but fail. The agents' true mission was to enslave natives to mine Vibranium. S.H.I.E.L.D. destroys the site, and Iron Man reveals S.H.I.E.L.D. is stockpiling super-villains. Cap reluctantly agrees to let Wolverine join the Avengers.
