Aboard the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, Dr. Kraus has kept Nick Fury under the Psycho-Projector for two weeks, casting doubt on events following Fury's shooting of Agent Rickard—particularly regarding the Super-Patriot. Kraus and Dugan used the device to assess Fury’s loyalty, then wiped his memory and sent him home. Fury wakes to a headache and Val acting as his nurse. Hydra agents, including Number 72, are ordered to kill Fury within 24 hours. Surviving multiple attempts, Fury narrowly escapes and returns to the Helicarrier. Kraus is exposed as a Hydra agent and flees. Fury recalls fragments of his lost time, questioning everything.
