The Atom #37

Ray Palmer joins an archaeological dig in Cambodia and encounters a golden statue stolen by a Mynah bird. As the Atom, he rescues the bird from a hawk but realizes its wings are damaged beyond repair. After a skirmish with Viet Minh invaders, the Atom and the bird defeat them. Back in the United States, Ray seeks help from his friend Cater Hall, who builds mechanical wings for the bird on his Thanagarian spaceship. Ray, Jean, and the bird, named Major Mynah, return home. When burglars steal Cambodian treasures, Ray and Major Mynah recover them. Later, when Major Mynah nearly reveals their adventures, Ray improvises an explanation to Jean. Ray resolves to disguise Major Mynah for future Atom missions.
