Uncanny X-Men #137 (Canadian)

The X-Men are taken to a Shi’ar starship, where Empress Lilandra declares the Phoenix must die for destroying a planet. Xavier demands a duel, leading to a brutal battle on the moon. One by one, the X-Men fall. Jean Grey and Cyclops make a last stand, but the Phoenix resurfaces. To prevent further destruction, Jean sacrifices herself using a Kree weapon. Cyclops mourns as the Watcher observes, noting that though Phoenix was seen as a monster, Jean died as a human.
