The X-Men and Starjammers work outside the Starjammer to repair Brood-inflicted damage. During the repairs, Wolverine is thrown into space by an explosion but is rescued by Cyclops and Hepzibah. In the chaos, Colossus collapses and is rushed to medical care. Meanwhile, Lilandra tries to contact Chancellor Araki, unaware he’s just been murdered by Admiral Samédàr, who then blocks all communication. Professor X attempts telepathic contact but senses an alien presence and falls into a coma. Kitty and Nightcrawler uncover Araki’s body and thwart Shi’ar assassins, eventually exposing Samédàr’s treachery. As Earth faces destruction, Lilandra regains control and halts the attack.
